Over 150,000 Patients Treated at Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Six Months

The Pak-China Friendship Hospital, a key healthcare facility under the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), has provided medical care to more than 150,000 patients over the past six months, playing a vital role in the well-being of residents in Gwadar and surrounding areas.

As a state-of-the-art medical center developed under CPEC, the hospital is managed by the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) and remains committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services. Along with comprehensive medical treatment, the facility also offers free medicines and meals to admitted patients, ensuring accessible care for all.

Between July 2023 and January 2024, the hospital attended to 153,252 patients, with its emergency department handling 18,190 cases. The family medicine and general outpatient department (OPD) emerged as the busiest unit, serving 60,465 patients. Additionally, the pediatric OPD saw 32,875 children, while the internal medicine department provided care for 6,014 individuals.

Surgical services were also in high demand, with the general surgery department assisting 5,527 patients, including 304 surgeries, and the orthopedic surgery unit treating 5,229 cases, performing 230 procedures. The dental OPD provided treatment for 4,636 patients, while the urology and nephrology departments attended to 2,822 cases, with 23 surgical interventions.

Maternity and child health services remained a crucial part of hospital operations, with 15,437 visits recorded and 1,260 babies delivered over the six-month period. Additionally, 176 patients benefited from CT scan services.

Expanding its medical capabilities, the hospital introduced Blood Bank Services in late January, further enhancing its ability to provide specialized treatment. Equipped with an advanced Cryofuge machine, the blood bank supplies essential components for patients suffering from trauma, childbirth complications, liver diseases, and blood disorders.
